From humble beginnings with a single contract for bussing, a handful of employees and a Client who supported our journey, McKay Métis Group has evolved into a dynamic organization rooted in a diverse business portfolio integrating self-perform and partnership businesses.

2009

Inception
Founded McKay Métis Group with a modest bussing contract, starting with less than 10 employees.

2014

Beginning of Partnerships
Formed strategic partnerships with GardaWorld (creating Garda North) and Site Resource Group (launching MMES).

2017

Business Governance
Expanded through partnerships with Sterling Crane (establishing McKay Sterling Crane), Roughrider International (forming McKay Roughrider Resources), and AGASGA (forming FMIS).
Established a separate Business Board for governance over MMG.

2020

Leadership Change
Entered a new chapter in leadership with a new CEO and Senior Leadership Team. Revamped governance, policy clarity, and transparency, strengthening our commitment to excellence.

2022

Acquisitions & Awards
Partnered with Stony Valley to create Métis North Sand & Gravel. Won Indigenous Business of the Year & Business of the Year at the Fort McMurray Chamber of Commerce. Acquired Roughrider International, expanding our capacity for self-performed services.

2023

Historic Dividend
Formed strategic partnerships with Badger Infrastructure Solutions (forming McKay Badger Infrastructure Solutions) and Las Corp (creating McKay Métis Data Solutions).
Paid the largest dividends to the Fort McKay Métis Nation in the history of MMG.

2024

Record Year
Built on 2023’s momentum with historic dividends and strong growth. Surpassed 270 employees at MMC, a new record. Expanded self-performed work, strengthened partnerships, and achieved Great Place to Work accreditation, all driving greater value for our Nation and region.
